Kitui’s budget committee chair, Boniface Kilaa has cautioned that corruption in our county is on the higher note.
Kilaa, who is also Tseikuru Member of county assembly clearly pointed out there is a lot of impunity in most dockets especially the health ministry.
“when we were compiling our budget ,K_chic account had Ksh.74 million,” Kilaa said.
Ironically, there are cases where some people registered for the said ‘free treatment’ and have never gotten the card to date.
“I personally applied for the card in this exercise that kicked off August last year but I have never received the card too” the County legislator complained.
Contrary to what is trending on social media that health facilities are fully loaded with medicine, those who are lucky to have these ‘free’ treatment cards are forced to purchase drugs elsewhere for there are no medicine in these health facilities.
In addition Kitui youths who were conducting the exercise of registering locals to acquire K_chic card were recently rendered jobless indefinitely owing over two months salaries.
In response to what Governor said on Sunday 6, 1/2019, Mca Kilaa said the reason they rejected the supplementary budget is not because they wanted a favor from Governor but Ngilu is the one who wrote to them thrice seeking to take them to Mombasa.
“the reason we rejected supplementary budget is because it was lawfully wrong and never included some major projects which were in the main budget. This also raising  questions of how ksh.11.7 billion in the main budget was used in a span of two months, in order for her to seek for a supplementary budget ” clarified Boniface.
In conclusion Tseikuru lawmaker insisted on their fight for the betterment and equity of locals and are not fighting governor as she has previously alleged adding the supplementary budget was reject by majority of mcas and not wiper legislators alone.
