Public participation on the County Fiscal Strategy Paper {CFSP} entered the second day today in different parts of the county.

Public forums convened at Ikanga in Kitui South and Chuluni in Kitui East, Tseikuru in Mwingi North and Kanyangi in Kitui Rural among other parts to provide private individuals an opportunity to influence public decisions and to be a component of the democratic decision-making process for the FY2019/20.

Governor Charity Ngilu’s administration seeks to engage Kitui residents in active decision-making on all the government programmes to promote project ownership by the communities in the spirit of devolution.

The County Chief Officer for Economic Planning Justus Kalii says the approach is aimed at collecting the views of the county’s residents to inform the decisions that the county leadership makes.

“This is part of the budget preparation cycle and an invitation to all residents to engage the government on matters development” he said.
Section 113 of the County Governments Act ( the Kenyan Constitution 2010) makes public participation in county planning processes compulsory.
