A section of county legislators from Kitui County Assembly have threatened to highjack the passing of the forthcoming 2019/20 financial year county budget unless the earlier agreed Sh 40M allocation per ward is catered for.The Sh. 40M ward allocation for each of Kitui’s 40 wards was signed months ago after an agreement between county legislators and the County Chief.
This was reached during the governor’s meeting with the Assembly representatives and was slated to fund progressing development projects at ward level to spread the development umbrella uniformly.
Speaking while they were addressing the journalists during the Public Participation exercise, a section of MCAs led by Kithumula/Kwa-Mutonga MCA David Thuvi, they have expressed their fears that the proposed county budget may be unapproved by the County Assembly if their agreed ward development allocation will not be included into year’s budget.
The slated millions are set to facilitate water provision projects, infrastructural improvement and availing of medical requirements in Kitui.
Speaking at the same event, Kasee Musya, Kisasi MCA who’s also the Kitui Assembly Deputy Speaker, said the Public Participation shall be immediately followed up by the Sectoral Committees joint meetings where the MCAs shall question the concerned CECs about the Sh. 40M ward allocation.
Present at the event was Esther Kalunda Ndile, nominated MCA, who bitterly expressed her disatisfaction about the frequent diversion of funds expected to spearhead development projects front loaded by the locals during Public Participation to other unproposed projects.
