Kitui Senator David Musila’s intervention on Monday helped save a Sh100 million water project rejected by residents of Kasanga and Kanyaa, Mwingi West constituency. This comes after the residents expressed the fear that they would not get water.

He pleaded with residents to stop interfering with the project, which would provide water to Migwani District Hospital and Migwani Secondary School.

His sentiments were echoed by Mwingi West MP Benard Kitungi.

Musila convinced residents to let a pipeline supplying water to Migwani district headquarters be laid in the area. He asked the crowd during the meeting at Kasanga market to resolve, by a show of hands, that the project continues.

The residents also agreed to withdraw a petition filed at the High Court in Garissa which led to an injunction stopping the project.

The Thitani-Migwani project, which is being implemented by the Tanathi Water Services Board, is funded by the Italian government.
