Kitui county households by the end of 2020, will have access to quality and quantity food, Governor Julius Malombe has pledged.
“My government will implement transformative programmes to ensure by December 31, 2020, Kitui has access to adequate, balanced and nutritious food,” he said.
Malombe said he will commercialise agriculture and introduce value addition to the produce.
He spoke when he opened the Kitui Agricultural and Trade Fair at the Ithookwe Showground last Friday.
The governor said his administration has acquired seven tractors for Sh28.8 million to help open up 630 acres of agricultural land annually.
He said 129 acres a are being irrigated in 30 projects.
