Dr. Malombe signs a pact to reinstate health to mothers and children.


    H.E Dr. Julius Malombe, Governor of Kitui County has today launched a programme to support maternal child nutrition a programme that is multi-pronged with focus on health systems strengthening, nutrition advocacy and nutrition resilient.


    This programme will run concurrently with Ending Drought Emergencies common programme framework that seeks to develop healthy, skilled, innovative, resourceful and motivated human capital.
    It is projected that the Maternal and Child Nutrition programme will reach approx. 145,571 children aged below five years and 37,978 pregnant and breastfeeding women in Kitui County.
    Indeed good nutrition throughout the lifecycle is a prerequisite for good health, which adds quality to life and contributes to healthy aging.
    ‘We want a healthy and wealthy county, with zero deaths of infants, pregnant mothers and people living with HIV and AIDS.’ Said the Governor.
    This four year programme is funded by the European Union, implemented by the Government of Kenya in partnership with UNICEF and members of the civil society.
