His Excellency President Uhuru Kenyatta met political leaders from the Lower Eastern region this morning to discuss development initiatives, and especially his planned visit, originally scheduled for this weekend.
The Lower Eastern team included 12 MPs, and was led by Mwingi Central MP Joe Mutambu.
The leaders acknowledged the extraordinary circumstances that led to the postponement of the visit, but were delighted that it had allowed them more time to prepare, including ensuring that all projects to be commissioned were readied.
The President and the leaders agreed on new dates for the visit, namely June 10-13, starting with June 10 in Machakos, June 11 and 12 in Kitui and June 13 in Makueni. The Kitui itinerary will include an Interdenominational church service.
The President looks forward to this visit, which will allow him to meet leaders in the area, interact with the citizens, and review and support the Ukambani development agenda.
