Governor Dr. Julius Malombe on Friday afternoon 20th May, 2016 cracked the whip on corruption. In a press release shared to the press, the Governor has announced termination of five senior officers of the county.
This follows a report presented to him containing findings that confirmed alleged acts of gross misconduct in respect to each of interdicted top county officials. The officers were interdicted on 11th December, 2015 for alleged acts of corruption, poor leadership and unethical practices.
The officers include, Eng. Paul Christopher Kimali Kioko, County Executive Committee Member for the County Ministry of Lands, Infrastructure and Urban Development, County Secretary, Mr. Stanslous Musyoka Nyamai, Ms. Emma Kamene Kitemange, Chief Officer County Ministry of Culture, Youth, Gender, Sports and Social Services, Dr. Evans Mumo Mwangangi Deputy Director, County Ministry of Health and Sanitation and Mrs. Grace Kavinya Muimi, Chief Officer, County Ministry of Finance and Economic Planning.
The committee of inquiry that was led by Dr. Mwongela Munyoki undertook the assignment and prepared an inception report, an interim report and a draft final report and final report presented to the Governor on 18th May, 2016.
The report confirmed four officers guilty to allegations levied upon them. Mrs Grace Kavinya was not found culpable as findings on her case were not conclusive and definitive.
Nonetheless, all the five officials have been fired and senior officers who had been assigned to perform the duties of the subject officers while they were on interdiction, will continue to do so until the positions are substantively filled.
