Machakos first lady Lilian Ng’ang’a Nganga is disputably one of the most stunning public figures we see on our screens. Her charitable works have not only won her many hearts but have also exposed her to the limelight, although she is often in the public eye so little is known to the public about her.
Lilian Muli of Citizen TV in her first ever live interview on national TV sought to unveil this mystery and uncover just how her life has changed since she grabbed public attention in a candid interview on Friday, 13th May, 2016.
From her story, Lilian grew up in a typical rural home as an ordinary girl running to school on foot and getting late in most of the days as most of us did. She is an alumnus of Loreto Girls High School, Kiambu where she says she was taught remarkable lessons on prayer. She also tried a hand on modelling.
She studied Hotel Management, Travel and Tours in college. She landed her first job at Safari Park Hotel where she worked for a year as a front office operations officer. She then left for Kenya Airways working for six years before quitting and starting her own travel company which she runs up to date.
Her love story with Governor Mutua began way back in 2011 when they met and became best of friends and later married.
She strongly believes in her husband’s Movement Maendeleo Chap Chap a move she says will be a life changer to the archaic bureaucratic ways of doing things, she praised her husband as having the interest of his people in his heart and believes change will indeed come under his leadership.
She hopes one day he will clinch the most coveted seat on the land. As the cliché goes ‘Every successful man has a woman behind her Lilian Nganga has been a strong pillar in her husband’s journey to power.
Although she appears all confident, well poised and courageous, she has made mistakes in life, she has tried things that didn’t work and she encourages young women to be courageous.
The first lady has initiated charitable projects within her county touching on Cancer Awareness, HIV and Aids Awareness campaigns, child welfare programs in children’s home including and engaging with youth and women. These activities have kept her quite visible in the public eye and a darling of many.
