UhuruInUkambani; Water shortages in Machakos County will be a thing of the past after Uhuru’s Visit.

The national government has invested in a Kshs. 2 Billion grant water project set to provide clean drinking water to the entire Machakos County.

The president Uhuru Kenyatta and his Deputy William Ruto accompanied by the Governor of Machakos Alfred Mutua have today June 10 inspected the ongoing rehabilitation works of the project at Yatta Canal, Kithimani at Matuu in Machakos County.

The president who is on a 4-day tour of Ukambani region was warmly welcomed by his first host Governor Alfred Mutua.
Mutua expressed his enthusiasm to host the head of state saying, “I personally wish to tell the President to feel at home in Ukambani. This visit will certainly align development and politics. I also urge opposition leaders to exercise decorum during the visit and shun sideshows that may cast the region in bad light,” the Machakos governor was earlier quoted by Capital FM.

The President has commenced a tour that will see him traverse the three Ukambani counties. He began with Machakos today after which he will head to Kitui County on Saturday 11 and 12 and conclude his tour in Makueni County on Monday 13.

Although the president’s visit has been faced with so much opposition it’s not all doom and gloom for the President as he tours territories earmarked as Cord stronghold, some area MPs have expressed excitement over the visit, terming it as “politics of development”.

They have actively championed for the presidential visit arguing that politics that help the people leave the bondage of poverty and underdevelopment for prosperity must be welcomed.
