If the latest developments are anything to go by, then retired Chief Justice Willy Mutunga could just be backing Governor Malombe in his run for re-election come 2017.
Speculation had been rife within political circles that the retired Chief Justice would try his hand in politics and compete against the incumbent Governor Dr. Malombe for gubernatorial seat in Kitui County but political analysts have since raised doubt after Dr. Willy Mutunga accompanied the governor to launch a water project in Mwivaki, Kitui East.
The Former Chief Justice Dr. Willy Mutunga joined Kitui County Governor Dr. Julius Malonbe together with Kitui East residents at the Launch of Mwivaki Water Project on Thurday June 30.
It remains debatable if this act can be construed to mean Dr. Willy does support the incumbent governor, retired Chief Justice has not yet made any public announcement concerning his candidature.
The Water Project that was being launched was initiated by the retired chief and funded by the Kenya Defense Forces in collaboration with the County Government of Kitui will see the residents benefit from unlimited access to clean and safe water to drink, drastically reducing the distance the residents cover in search of water.
Former Chief of Defense Forces Julius Karangi also graced the event.
