Kitui Traffic Police educate bodaboda riders on road safety.

More than 50 motor bike operators in Kitui town have benefited from the training.

Traffic Police officers in Kitui took the initiative to educate bodaboda operators in Kitui County on road safety, on Wednesday July 20.

Speaking during the sensitization campaign the Area Police Commandant called on sobriety and discipline among the operators. He said the high number of accidents involving motor cycle was a national concern.

The Motor cycle operators have been urged to be more vigilant and strictly adhere to the highway-code to avert the rising number of casualties involving motor cycles.

Through the sensitization the bodaboda riders appreciated the use of helmet, reflector jacket and having all the requirements needed before using a motorcycle on the road.

The riders who were much appreciative for getting a chance to participate in the training promised to be agents of change by following traffic rules and sensitizing their colleagues.

They learnt lessons on how to avoid hit and run,violence in case one is hit, risks of drink and drive, why one needs to carry only one passenger and avoiding huge luggages.

The training that saw over 50 riders benefit from the initiative was held at a bodaboda shade next to Riverside Hotel in Kitui Town on Wednesday.
