Three people have sustained severe injuries on Saturday afternoon at around 5.00pm when a boda boda collided with a tuktuk at Kalundu River along the Majengo-Ithookwe Road.
The three who suffered injuries included the boda boda rider and two passengers; the two an adult and a child were among passengers aboard the tuktuk headed to Kitui town after the culmination of 2016 Kitui Show and Trade Fair at Ithookwe showground.
The victims were rushed to Kitui General hospital for medical attention. The tuktuk driver and the other occupants escaped with minor scratches from the incidence.
This comes barely two days after the traffic police took time out to train boda boda riders on road safety.
The police urged boda boda riders to familiarise and comply with traffic regulations, NTSA Regulations 2015 for Motorcycles to reduce fatalities on the road.
