The ongoing Kitui Trade Fair and exhibition that comes to a closure today is an affirmation strategy to all residents that they can rely on farming for a living.
The show that was officially opened yesterday by Kitui governor Dr Julius Malombe is no doubt a key plank towards a widespread technological know-how to all farmers.
“Water harvesting and conservation is one of the activity that all of us can engage in to better our farming practices” Dr Malombe said.
He added that his government will carry out an all round support in different sectors to boost the economy of all people.
Different speakers addressed the participants among them the Agriculture County Executive Member Dr Charles Kang’e who described technology in agriculture and industry for food security and sustainable growth as the chief undertaking that can save the county from hunger.
All speakers called on Kitui residents to embrace the growing of drought resistant crops for better yields in the future.
Different ministries were rewarded for an exemplary performance in the exhibition among them Ministry of Tourism, Ministry of Trade and ICT, Ministry of Lands, Infrastructure and Urban Development and Ministry of Ministry of Agriculture.
The County government of Kitui intends to construct an average of five sand dams in all forty wards countywide to spearhead the anti-hunger campaigns in the forthcoming budgetary allocation.
The ongoing show was revived at the inception of devolution after sixteen years of temporary in-existence.
