As political drum beats continue to beat to the tune of realignment and the latest to dance to its tunes is the Nairobi Senator Mike Mbuvi Sonko who claims he is ready to switch camps and work with the opposition, he says he will vie for Nairobi Gubernatorial position on CORD ticket but with conditions.

But first Sonko wants the CORD co-principal and Wiper leader Kalonzo Musyoka made the coalition presidential flag bearer in the 2017 general elections.

Cord flag bearer arithmetic is yet be decide, Sonko is rallying behind Kalonzo to be appointed as the preferred candidate.

“If you want me to come back home, let Kalonzo be the flag bearer of CORD.” Sonko said while speaking during the burial ceremony of the father to Mavoko MP Patrick Makau where cord co-principal Kalonzo Musyoka and Moses Wetangula were present.

Sonko said Kalonzo is able to lead the country and thus Raila must let Kalonzo carry the CORD’s flag to the general elections saying the Kamba community should not be used as rubberstamp whether in government or in opposition.

Speaking at the same venue Co-principal Moses Wetangula welcomed Sonko’s move saying he had told him to come back home.

However, Sonko’s ambition to become the next city boss will be faced with tough opposition with many other politicians having expressed interest in the same; Nairobi Governor Evans Kidero has maintained he will defend his seat while other candidates include nominated MP Johnson Sakaja and Water CS Eugene Wamalwa.
