Youth differ over who to back during 2017 Kitui gubernatorial race.

As the 2017 general elections draws near, the drumbeats of political alignment are sounding louder and politics continues to take shape, the hottest debate among youth a key population in any political bid is on who is the best fit candidate to support for the Kitui gubernatorial position.

The youth population seems to have been split at the centre with one divide backing the incumbent governor Dr. Julius Malombe for re-election while the other is supporting the current Kitui County Senator, David Musila who has declared interest in the governor’s seat.

The two groups seem to be throwing words to each other in a bid to pull one to the other end. While speaking at a meeting held with Mwingi Central youths, David Muingo a youth leader from Kitui West said Sen. Musila is been greedy for wanting to vie for the governor seat, a position he refused to take up during the previous general election.

David said Sen. Musila was being hypocritical to have Malombe as a rival after he pointed him as the best candidate in 2013, he should just allow the incumbent to finish his 10 year term.

The youth leader slammed on Musila saying he was old, he called on senior youth leaders supporting the senator to stop straying and switch camps to back the incumbent governor.

The youth leader had attended a meeting hosted by Mwingi youth to deliberate on candidature of Sen. Musila in the governor race. Sen. Musila has however, received huge backing from the current Kitui National youth chairman who seems to have declared war to overthrow the incumbent governor.
