Kitui Governor Julius Malombe has been at the centre of debate following a string of embarrassing attacks targeting his deputy while addressing several public functions recently.
Repeated remarks he has made attacking his deputy governor Ms Peninnah Malonza have ignited varied reactions from women leaders among them Charity Ngilu.
The groups protesting against governor’s remarks have received backing from the Former Lands CS who is eyeing the County Governor seat; she has said that Malombe’s comments are a disgrace to his demeanor and accused him of openly showing disrespect to women.
“The governor has failed the leadership test by stooping too low to discuss a woman’s looks in public in front of the electorate,” Ngilu reacted
The governor has constantly being involved in ugly public face-off with his deputy, the public spat first began at the deputy’s homeground in Kitui South Constituency where the governor was touring projects a month ago.
Malombe had mocked his DG for following him, later while presiding a fundraiser at Itoleka Mixed Secondary school he called her “naive and physically unappealing” and dared her to undress in protest as she had alleged earlier.
His remarks have continued to draw protest with women groups claiming that the governor is becoming disrespectful and unfair to publicly dress-down his deputy.
