Brutally battered Jackline Mwende who had been left for the dead by his husband after a family feud has received overwhelming support from well-wisher who have been flocking her father’s home at Kathama, since her ordeal came to light.
Among the latest well-wishers who visited Mwende was the Machakos First Lady Lilian Ng’ang’a who was accompanied by woman representatives Susan Musyoka (Machakos), Mary Seneta (Kajiado), Joyce Lay (Taita Taveta), Florence Kajuju (Meru) and Rose Museo (Makueni).
Others were entrepreneur Esther Passaris, Machakos chairwoman for Maendeleo Ya Wanawake Fransisca Mutinda and Fida chairperson Josephine Mong’are.
Speaking at Mwende’s home the Machakos first lady said she will receive Sh30,000 monthly, for a year, from the Machakos government and free medical care, including counseling, until she recovers fully.
In addition she will be provided with a house keeper whose services will be paid for by the county for a year.
Ng’ang’a who came carrying a basket full of goodies for Mwende said, “There will be an ambulance at her disposal to take her to the clinic or hospital for check-ups for one year, we will also train her so that she is employable and able to sustain herself.”
She said the Machakos government has offered the one year support based on a review of the woman’s condition.
Mwende had also been visited by Senator Muthama’s wife together with a Germany NGO by the name MERCK that offered the support of $250 per month to her.
Jacqueline Mwende hands were chopped off by her husband in Kathama-Mwala Subcounty in Machakos County.
