Although Jackline Mwende, 27 the woman brutally assaulted by her husband at their home in Machakos offered to forgive her husband, her family has said that the man must be punished. They have called on the government to ensure justice is served by sending the callous man to jail.

Jackline Mwende’s mother Jane Munywoki and her uncle Stephen Musyoka have appealed to the court to deny Stephen Ngila bond.

Munywoki said Ngila is a threat to the family. “This man has hurt my soul deeply and I cannot stand seeing him free for what he has done to my daughter. He should be taken to a place where I will never see him again because of the tears he caused me,” Munywoki said.

While her uncle Musyoka justice should be served by seeing Ngila “rot in jail for the rest of his life”.

“It will hurt us more to see this man out on bond even if it is his right. We are asking the court to see to it that he does not enjoy this right because of the weight of the matter,” He said.
