Two policemen who shot a 16-year old boy in Mwingi charged with murder

The two police officers Abdi Muhammed 23, and Benedict Oduor 25 at Mwingi Law courts.

The two police officers who reported to have shot and killed a standard seven boy in Mwingi were arranged in court to answer to the charges.

Police officers Abdi Muhammed 23, and Benedict Oduor 25 were arrested for shooting the young boy in a sand harvesting scuffle appeared before the Magistatre in Mwingi Law Courts and charged with murder, they were accused of killing the young boy as they tried to hunt down sand harvesters.

The young boy Nicholas Munyoki Muthui who had absconded school to fetch an extra shilling, had joined others to load sand into lorries at the river was when he was caught up in a police ambush after the sand barons vanished.

The father the boy 16, said their attempts to save the life of their child were futile as he lost breath minutes after getting the hospital. The young boy had suffered two bullet shots of the four fired by the police.
