Bogus contractor embarrasses the county government while exposing lives of hundreds of motorists to danger in a bid to make easy cash.
The contractor who is rumoured to be a favourite of the county government, has shamelessly put up ‘plastic’ poles disguised as steel rodes as bridge barriers at the popular Kalundu bridge. What worries the more, is that the imminent death trap was set up under the full glare of the county government of Kitui.
Clearly, the County government seems to be playing along to the music, dishing out money without a blink on whether the government gets value for money as it undertakes to improve connectivity across the county.
The contractor tasked with constructing the Kalundu river box culvert seems to have blinded everyone’s eye except that of KO.

The fake contractor shamelessly used plastic toilet pipes, stacked with cement and painted them to reflect steel rods, forming the side barriers of the new box culvert at Kalundu river.
Surprisingly, the bridge was given a clean bill of health by the requisite officers and opened to unsuspecting public who ply the route daily unaware of the disaster that awaits.

Ideally the county government is supposed to supervise projects and ensure standard measures are put in place before letters of completion are signed.
But officers tasked with certifying that road works are done to the required specifications, seem to have slept at their job.
