Bhang worth Kshs. 600,000 was nabbed piled in six 50kg sacks by Police in Machakos on Friday night August 12 being ferried in a private car headed to Nairobi.
Machakos county commissioner George Onyango said the car was intercepted at Kyumbi police road block.
“The officers got suspicious when they ordered the driver to stop but instead, he took a U-turn and tried to speed away prompting them to shoot and deflate one of the tires,”Onyango said.
The officers were forced to deflate one of the tires of the car after the driver attempted to drive away when he was ordered to stop.
Drug peddlers seem to now change tack in a bid to evade the police using small cars to ferry their drugs as nobody would get suspicious of private cars carry.
“All vehicles plying along Nairobi-Mombasa road and all other roads across the County will now have to undergo thorough inspection as it was evident that drug peddlers had changed tact.” Machakos County Commissioner said.
