The wave of misfortunes following Kisii county is quite alarming,before the fire menace had began, a tragic accident that claimed the lives of 8 Kenyatta University Students in Kisii occurred,now a mysterious tragic accident that has seen at least 3 students die and 68 hospitalized was reported on 12 August.
Only less than a month when the first school arson was reported in Kisii county and later spread across the country, now a school bus topples, three students die in their newly acquired bus while on their maiden ride, really sad!
The St. Mary’s Nyamagwa girls were celebrating their new bus when the accident occurred at the same spot where another school bus accident saw over 10 students lose their lives four years ago.
Kisii Teaching and Referral Hospital CEO Dr. Enock Ondari where the girls were rushed confirmed the death of the three students and five others who were critically injured.
Ondari said 68 students were admitted at the health facility where two out of the critically injured had severed limbs fractured.
The school bus accident came just about when President Uhuru Kenyatta was handing over seven buses to six schools and a college in Nairobi.
Speaking during the handing over event held at State House, President Uhuru advised students to embrace dialogue in solving problems instead of resorting to destruction of property.
The institutions that benefited were Chilchilla Secondary School in Kepkelion, Uhuru Kenyatta High School Kabiyet in Eldama Ravine, St. Mary’s Sosio Girls High School in Bungoma, Elburgon Secondary School in Molo, State House Primary School in Nairobi, Wajir Girls Secondary School in Wajir and Kericho Teachers Training College.
