Former political adviser to the governor Charles Kyale has finally extended an olive branch to his long time sworn political enemy after a long battle in court.
The former adviser has instructed a Kitui court to drop a case in which Mwingi Central MP Joe Mutambu was charged with squeezing and harming privates of the former Kitui county government official.
The court admitted Charles Kyale’s request to withdraw the assault charges preferred against the legislator along with a political activist Miltonic Mwendwa Kitute.
Kyale told Kitui Resident Magistrate Rose Ombata that he has decided to “forgive the two defendants owing to him being a devoted Christian.
Defence lawyer Katunga Mbuvi told court that the three litigants had held re-conciliatory talks and agreed to do away with the case.
The Magistrate, however told the complainant to handle the matter with caution as it will not be brought to court again once the case is dropped. The accused persons reportedly committed the offence at Tanathi boardroom in Kitui town on February 23, 2015 when the complainant was
the governor’s political advisor.
The accused denied the charges when they were arraigned in court on October 8, 2015 and January 26, 2016 respectively. The MP has been out on cash bail of Sh 50,000 while his co-accused has been out on Sh7,000 cash bail.
The case is said to have been orchestrated by governor Malombe to punish his rival Hon Joe Mutambu.
