Gubernatorial aspirant and Fomer Lands CS Charity Ngilu visited victims of banditry in Ngomeni, Mwingi North where eighteen people were killed recently by Somali bandits and 4000 residents have fled their homes.
Ngilu condoled with the families of the deceased and interacted with traders at Ngomeni market which has experienced rampant insecurity.
Ngilu called upon the Ministry of Interior and Coordination to restore security in the area. Ngilu was addressing the residents of Kasiluni and Kalwa over the weekend.
A resident Mwendwa Maithya said, “There is a political price to pay for the killings and suffering we have endured at the hands of the armed Somali bandits disguised as herders. He said their political leaders have failed.”
Nearly 4,000 residents of Ngomeni ward in Kitui have fled their homes following killings by armed herders.
