In Mwingi North politics have started to heat up with residents warming up to campaign mood ahead of the 2017 general elections. The residents of Mwingi North seem to have suffered a blow after their Member of Parliament was named among the defectors who joined the recently formed Jubilee party.
Hon. John Mati who is a first-time legislator last weekend officially made the switch to Jubilee and was among the MPs welcomed by the Deputy President to the new party during the merger celebrations at Kasarani on Saturday 10.
Many residents of Mwingi North seem to have been angered by the move and have now vowed to punish the MP terming him a traitor who has disrespected their national leader for ganging up with the rival team.
The rival MP Aspirants are now using this loophole to beat the incumbent and its working quite well. Reacting to the defection of Munuve, Hon Mutati Wiper parties die hard who is contesting for the MP seat has been working closely with Kitui senator Hon. David Musila and Wiper Party leader H.E Kalonzo Musyoka termed it as cowardly and escapist for the incumbent MP to move to Jubilee.
He said, “This was the betrayal of the faith and goodwill of the people of Mwingi North. Munuve is a disappointment. The people of Mwingi North elected him on Wiper Ticket; he should respect their choice of party affiliation”. A report by the Voter indicated.
Mwingi North legislator has been termed by his opponents as failure in service delivery accusing him of the neglecting the constituency forcing it to lag behind on matters development.
Among other contenders of the MP seat in Mwingi North is Musyimi Nzengu who lost to the incumbent in 2013 and has been on the ground wooing to support his second bet at the position.
