The Wiper party council has proposed that the Cord coalition be registered as a party to be able to leverage itself well for the 2017 general elections. This has been revealed after the party hosted a day-long National Executive council meeting today Sept 20.
Speaking during a press briefing after the meeting held at the party’s headquarters, the Wiper Secretary General Hassan Omar has said that Cord will be registered as a party ahead of 2017, however the Wiper Party shall remain independent and is open to all aspirants eyeing different positions in the upcoming general elections across the country.
“ It’s a matter that the committee is still discussing, but for the us here from this NEC is that, Cord is being registered as party simply for the purposes of having a cord presidential candidate at the national level and other critical areas like Nairobi but outside that, Wiper will run a candidate for every seat available without zoning or discrimination.” Omar said during the brief.
