While Kalonzo toured the coast region on Saturday Oct 1, the ODM party leader and his crew have been on a different tour in Kisumu.
The Wiper party leader announced on Twitter that he will be on a two-day Mombasa. “Just landed at Moi International Airport in Mombasa together with my wiper team. Our SG briefing us before we set out for the road show and meet the lovely Mombasa people. Wiper all the way. God bless you all.” Kalonzo wrote.
These divergent actions have sparked a lot of debate with many speculating a likely emergence of discord in cord.
The three political parties that constitute Cord have been seemingly reading from different scripts given that they have been holding parallel rallies.
Rumour has it that Raila is well aware that Kalonzo and Wetangula are political lightweights prompting him to groom Mombasa Governor Ali Hassan Joho to be his running mate.
Raila is said to have held a closed door meeting with the Mombasa governor and relayed his wish to have him as his running mate and the two co-principals could be reading mischief.
It is yet to be seen if Raila will discard Kalonzo and Wetangula as his possible running mates and the ramifications it will have on his presidency.
Raila has however denied any possibility of disunity in Cord during his tour in Kisumu. He was accompanied by the Mombasa Governor Hassan Joho among other leaders.
Both co-principals have continued to publicize their presidential ambitions.
