Machakos residents set to enjoy piped clean water at their doorsteps.

Mutua promises clean piped water in the villages.

All Machakos villages will have piped water within a month, Governor Mutua has promised.

In comprehensive water program that is meant to ensure over 250,000 households have access to clean running tap water the governor on Friday commissioned 8 drilling rigs to sink more boreholes in different parts of the county.

“Our plan is that by the end of this month we will have a functional borehole in each sub-location and more in the villages. At the same time, we are also building earth dams to harvest rain water.” Mutua said.

The governor dispelled rumours that his government had sunk dry boreholes saying the new plan is the second phase that will see boreholes equipped with solar panels to power the pumps and laying of pipes to distribute water to homes.

“Through Maendeleo Chap Chap, we are determined to actualize our dream that ensures no mother in Machakos carries a jerrican to draw water from the river.” He posted on his fb page.
