Cord co-principals plan a crisis retreat

Moses Wetang’ula, Raila Odinga, Kalonzo Musyoka and Charity Ngilu at the burial of Wavinya Ndeti’s husband over the weekend.

Cord co-principal have hinted to a planned retreat to iron out issues likely to disunite the Cord coalition and compromise their likelihood to clinch the presidency seat.

The crisis retreat is planned for some time in October and will take place in Naivasha.

This was agreed at a meeting between ODM chief Raila Odinga and his Wiper counterpart Kalonzo Musyoka last Thursday, which was their first contact since Cord wrangles hit a new high. The Star reported.

Although the three principals have reassured their supporters that Cord is intact, there has been fear and anxiety among the followers mostly emanating from the frequency parallel campaign trails that have seen the members through political missiles on each other.

“Cord has shown clearly that we are together. These are the last moments for Jubilee. People should not be worried because we are together. We will stick together and nobody will put us apart,” Confident Kalonzo said in an interview with the Star.

“At the retreat, the three opposition chiefs, including Ford Kenya’s Moses Wetang’ula, will explore how to conduct joint campaign rallies.” Senator Muthama said the co-chairman of the Cord Management Committee.

“We are going to have a retreat and not one. We will continue to retreat and have more meetings as we get close to elections,” Machakos Senator Johnson Muthama added.
