The youth leadership in Kitui county has condemned the ongoing chaotic scenes witnessed in Mwingi central constituency.
Led by NYC’s Eastern region chairman Benson Mutemi and his Kitui County counterpart Aggrey Nzomo, the youth who issued a joint press statement yesterday in Kitui town warned former LSK chairman Eric Mutua and former permanent secretary Gideon Mulyungi against dragging young people into their differences.
“We want these two to fight their battles without taking advantage of jobless youth”said Mutemi.
The two aspirants are eyeing the Mwingi central parliamentary seat with the wiper party and on Saturday clashed in Mwingi town prompting their supporters to engage in running battles with the police.
Several youths were injured in the stampede and now the youth leaders want the two leaders held responsible and cater for their medical expenses.
“We want any leader to put their sons in the war front if he wants us to fight for him ” said Nzomo.
We want mature politics not these frequent barbarism we are witnessing in Mwingi central because this is not the first time supporters of these aspirants are clashing” said Nzomo.
They disclosed that they’ll be touring all sub counties in Kitui county sensitizing youth on peace during the electioneering period.
Youths have also been warned against engaging in violent campaigns.
