By Barrack Muli,
In what seems to be a mounting support and confidence for Governor Malombe among women, Kitui East residents from Zombe Mwitika Ward yesterday reaffirmed their steady support for Malombe in his gubernatorial reelection bid come 2017.
Speaking at a fundraiser towards women empowerment presided over by the County First Lady Mrs. Edith Malombe at Zombe yesterday, the women led by Mrs. Josephine Mwota cleared doubts of their political stand by stating flat that Malombe’s development track record is compact and justifies approval by the electorate.
“Malombe has delivered already, we are uneasy about the destructive politics happening elsewhere, Zombe Mwitika women remain united behind Governor Malombe”. Said Josephine Mwota, a resident.
“Those politicking already are enemies of development, we won’t vote for them, they have already failed Kitui people” added Mueni Musau.
Mrs. Malombe said that she will continue working with Kitui women in efforts to foster growth and create self-reliance among them. She reiterated that Kyeni Foundation which she founded remains a partner with the County government and draws support from goodwill partners among them Red Cross Kenya and the Ahadi trust Kenya.
The Kyeni Foundation Director further noted that her foundation has positively impacted lives through empowerment programs that have seen women overcome the poverty jeopardy in different areas of the vast county.
Other leaders who graced the event include the area MCA Eunice Katheke and her Mutitu Kaliku counterpart Madam Anastacia Mwathi Mutunga.
Both leaders urged the Kitui people to vote wisely and shun negative political utterances as elections draw near.
