Kitui County Assembly Minority leader Hon. Alex Nganga led a host of former Councillors drawn from the defunct local authorities in Kitui County in endorsing President Uhuru Kenyatta for a second term.
In a meeting held at a Kitui town hotel the 183 former Councillors unanimously agreed to support Uhuru re-election and pledged to vigorously campaign for the President.
While addressing the Councillors Hon. Nganga expressed frustrations that it was difficult to lobby for opportunities in Government because senior political leaders from Kitui County had continued to wedge unnecessary war against the Government and were driving residents to opposition for personal interests.
He told the Councillors as grassroot leaders they needed to take charge of shaping residents destiny and make sure the people of Kitui are in Government come August this year.
Former Kitui County Council Chairman, Cllr. Gideon Munyalo who attended the meeting led the way in endorsing Uhuru saying ” We have suffered enough in opposition and cannot afford another five years there, just the other day the President launched the tarmacking of Kibwezi – Mutomo – Kitui road and we will reward him with our votes”
