Don’t let this health project lie in books, Malombe told

On Friday  H.E. Dr. Malombe held talks with a health team from Japan at his office at Tanathi in Kitui Town.

The team was led by the Vice President of Shonan Kamakura General Hospital Shuzo Kobayashi, a Japanese based hospital with 14 global dialysis destinations. Kitui County is the only partner of the Japan hospital in Kenya.

The visit was a follow-up meeting after Kitui County government entered into a partnership agreement with the Japan hospital on a donation of 10 dialysis machines in December last year. Currently the county has 10 machines for kidney related illnesses received from the national government.

Four health staff; 1 doctor, 1 medical engineer and 2 nurses will be flown to Japan for a one month training this week. They will be expected back in early April to commence treatment of kidney related illnesses.*

“This is the only county that has been able to tap a lot from the international community, making it the best performing county in many areas.” Mr Mutisya, a Japan health personnel said.

The  courtesy call was attended by Economic Advisor Kitheka Mulatya, CECM for Health Ruth Koki, Ass. Director Alex Muthyoi, Medical Engineer Mr. Rama, the Japanese team among others.

Kitui people are waiting to see when this paperwork will materialize for an improved health care in the county.
