Kitui Governor Julius Malombe is set to unveil a new lineup ahead of the August 8th polls in what is believed to be a response to divorce his current Deputy.
An insider who spoke on condition of anonymity hinted that Mr Malombe has finalised a lineup that will go to polls regardless of their political affiliation.
“The Governor is not asleep and he had to go to the drawing board. He has been having intensive negotiations with his political allies and his lineup will be unveiled soonest to counter his challengers,” said the source.
“Under his new team, Gladys Kivoto will be his Deputy, as the governor seeks to defend his seat that has attracted Ngilu and Musila.
However, according to the source, all Malombe close allies have agreed with the choice terming it solomonic with hopes of rekindling his support in Kitui South, where Kivoto hails from.
Ms Kivoto whose husband lost in the 2013 polls, currently serves in Kitui County Government as the Chief Officer of Trade.
Efforts to reach Kivoto for comment were futile since she could neither pick calls nor respond to text messages.
