An ambience of joy and relief engulfed Chemwengi village in Kyangwithya East as a middle-aged woman who yesterday hit the headlines for attempting to auction an owl so as to feed her starving children, welcomed assorted foodstuffs from Kitui journalists.
Anna Kavivi, her family and neighbours could not hide their joy as the received the donation of maize, beans, milk, maize and wheat flour, cooking oil, vegetables and rice among other household commodities.
The mother of four vehemently thanked the media fraternity for their generosity and for having highlighted her plight thereby drawing the attention of well wisher who have since yesterday flocked her homestead with assorted goodies.
She shocked traders and shoppers at Kalundu Shopping Centre after she was sighted trying to sell of the dreaded bird.
She said the pangs of hunger in her family and dire poverty drove her into conducting the never-heard-of trade.
