Kitui Governor Julius Malombe’s re-election bid has received a huge boost after Kitui South residents endorsed him for a second term at the helm and vowed to overwhelmingly vote for him in the impending elections.
Led by their elders and Good News Church of Africa (GNCA) Bishop Raphael Nzuki Kituva, the residents lauded the county boss for what they termed as outstanding performance by his administration since it took up reins in 2013.
The ceremony took place at Ndatani market in Kitui South as the Governor pitched tent in the remote constituency to drum up support for his re-election bid in the countdown to the countdown to the national polls.
While the elders blessed him for another term in office, the man of the cloth led the congregation in prayers to seek divine victory for the incumbent as he races to defend his seat against former Land CS Charity Ngilu and Senator David Musila who has declared bids to depose him.
The residents said Malombe’s administration has implemented many development projects in the area including construction of Ikutha Level Four Hospital and the Sh800 million River Athi-Kanyangi-Maluma-Mutomo-
On his part, Governor Malombe, who is seeking to defend his seat on a Wiper Party ticket, promised to deliver further development not only in the constituency but also the rest of Kitui County if re-elected in the August 8 General Election.
