As the battle for Kitui Central MP seat hots up, Katunga Mbuvi as emerged as the person to beat following the huge support he has received from the electorate.
Residents have endorsed the renowned lawyer, who has mounted a spirited campaign in all the five wards including Miambani, Township, Kyangwithya West, Mulango and Kyangwithya East, to succeed the incumbent Makali Mulu.
His crisscrossing of the constituency on a resolute vote hunt has sent his eight opponents into panic.
The locals say time is ripe for a change of guard, lamenting that Mr Mulu has forsaken them besides performing dismally.
They as well have accused the legislator of promoting nepotism in the CDF office, condoning graft and failing to initiate meaningful development in the constituency over the past five years.
Mr Katunga has vowed to ensure development focused leadership once elected into office saying he seeks to offer servant leadership which the people yearn for in a bid to improve their livelihoods.
The parliamentary hopeful, who is vying on a Maendeleo Chap Chap ticket, is set to face it off with Makali (Wiper), Daudi Kitoo (Narc), Japheth Mwova (Muungano) and Moses Banda (Jubilee) in next month’s elections.
Others are Henry Malonza (Independent), Mwendwa Munyasya and Sikwe.
