CS Mailu dismisses “cash transfer” rigging claims by the Opposition

Health CS Cleopa Mailu has dismissed as falsehoods the claims by NASA that Jubilee is using l the ongoing registration of the elderly for monthly stipend to rig the forthcoming elections.

Nasa co-principal Kalonzo Musyoka last Friday claimed Jubilee was asking the elderly to surrender ID cards to be registered for the programme.

Speaking on Monday when he paid a courtesy call to Kitui County Commissioner Boaz Cherutich before launching the program in the county, Dr Mailu dismissed the claims as empty rhetoric by the opposition leaders.

“All the State seeks to do is to uplift the lives of the elderly in the society.

“I urge all persons aged 70 years and above to register their particulars so that they can get the stipend as from January next year,” said the Cabinet Secretary.

He said the programme aims at enrolling over 41,000 elderly people in Kitui County.
