Even as many scratch heads over composition of Governor Ngilu’s cabinet that is still in the pipeline, her boon ally, Fatuma Ngesa, has been touted as likely to land the Water, Agriculture and Irrigation docket.
However, Ngilu’s silence on who she’s likely to appoint into her cabinet has given most, especially those soliciting for the county senior positions, sleepless nights and left them guessing.
Mama Ngilu’s decision to entrust Ms Ngesa, who hails from Kitui East constituency, with the water trucking program especially in the remote parts of the county has set tongues wagging that she may be on a dry-run ahead of her much hyped appointment to head the crucial department.
She has been seen earnestly monitoring distribution of clean drinking water by water bowsers under Ngilu’s drought mitigation program.
“From the look of things, Ngesa is more than likely to land herself a ministerial position in Ngilu’s government,” a vocal resident who sought anonymity told this writer.
Questions are also rife as to why Mama Ngilu has seen it wise to have Ngesa in charge of water initiative pending constitution of her cabinet.
When reached for comment on the overtures, Madam Ngesa denied being privy to such “planned” appointment but had only volunteered herself to ensure the thirsty locals enjoy a constant supply of water especially for domestic use.
“The governor is yet to appoint her cabinet unless I’m behind news,” she told KO on phone.
She, however, revealed her willingness to resign from her current job to serve the people of Kitui alongside Ngilu if given the chance.
“But I won’t be doing it for the salary but because it would grant me an excellent opportunity to serve humanity,” she emphasized.
