Family’s Agony As Body Of Missing Granny Found Dumped In A Well

A family in Nguni Ward within Mwingi Central is yet to come to terms with the heinous murder of their kin whose decomposing body was yesterday found dumped in a community well a week after her disappearance.

The deceased, identified as Priscilla Nzisi Kitavi, reportedly went missing from her Kavisuni home last Saturday but one after she was allegedly abducted by members of her step-family.

Neighbours told KO that there exists a bad blood between the two families, adding that the suspects previously issued death threats to the victim.

According to family members, their 78-year-old mother twice reported the threats to Nguni police station but no action was taken.

The grieving relatives felt her murder could have been forestalled had the police treated the matter with the seriousness it deserved and consequently taken appropriate action against the suspects.

They felt the law enforcers had somehow contributed to or allowed the murder of their loved one.

It took police officers from Nguni and Ukasi three days to retrieve the body from the 75-feet well but not without assistance from the Kenya Disaster Rescue team.

CID officers from Mwingi have so far arrested three suspects from the accused step-family, according to the Mwingi Central Sub-county CID boss Mr Mwongela.

The three are assisting with investigation into elderly woman’s death.

The body was taken to Mwingi Level Four Hospital’s mortuary pending an autopsy to ascertain the cause of Mrs Kitavi’s unfortunate death.
