Friends Turned Foes: Stop Badmouthing Me, MP Kaki Slams Ngilu

Kitui South MP Rachael Kaki Nyamai has lashed out at Governor Charity Ngilu after she recently castigated her over alleged political ploys.

In an audio clip heard by KO, the Jubilee lawmaker demanded that Ngilu should stop her political attacks and accord her the respect she deserves.

She said it was regrettable for the county boss to insinuate that she (Kaki) incited her constituents to barricade the Kitui-Mutomo road at Ikanga in a bid to block a convoy of vehicles from the county government and Red Cross on a mission to donate green grams seeds to area locals.

“Her accusations are baseless and insensible because I cannot in my right mind prevent or deny my people from getting all sorts of aid. Whoever wishes to help uplift the lives of Kitui South residents is welcome to visit any time, any day.

“What we don’t want is petty politics meant to elicit unnecessary political tension between Kitui Central and Kitui South. We all belong to Kitui County and we are one people regardless of which constituency who comes from,” she said.

Ms Kaki reiterated her respect for Ngilu and her leadership, and expressed her willingness to join hands with the Governor and support her in service to Kitui residents as long as Ngilu extends the olive branch.

“I respect Ngilu because she is like a mother to me besides being my political mentor but I won’t sit back and watch as she goes around disparaging me amongst my constituents. Let her respect me and stop badmouthing me forthwith,” said the MP.

She, however, warned Ngilu that she will neither be cowed nor intimidated but will be forced to stand her ground should Ngilu continue the verbal attacks.

The two have not been seeing eye to eye since Kaki ditched Ngilu’s Narc Party to join President Uhuru Kenyatta’s Jubilee Party.

Mrs Ngilu now sees Kaki, who was once her most trusted political ally and boon friend, as a big time traitor especially given that she went to bed with the same administration that in 2015 unceremoniously ejected her (Ngilu) from the Lands Ministry over graft allegations.
