Kitui residents warned against disrupting tomorrow’s poll

Security bodies in Kitui County have issued a stern warning to residents contemplating to disrupt the repeat presidential election scheduled for tomorrow, October 26th.

This is coming amidst heightened calls by the National Super Alliance to its supporters to boycott the exercise over the IEBC’s reforms stalemate.

Led by Kitui County Commissioner Mr Boaz Cherutich, the county security committee said anyone found engaging in acts likely to threaten peace during the election shall be dealt with the full force of the law.

But the county security chief affirmed preparedness by security officers to provide security to locals wishing to exercise their democratic right to vote.

“I want to assure the people of Kitui that all is set to guarantee security in all polling stations across the county for smooth running of the exercise,” he told the Press in his office.

Cherutich further warned local politicians against making incitement to the public.
