A day after former Governor Julius Malombe’s chief officers were sent on terminal leave, acting Finance CO June Munyao has written to Governor Charity Ngilu blocking her dismissal from office.
Reports by credible sources have indicated that Ms Munyao seeks to be spared from the sack on grounds that she is not a fully fledged CO but just a Chief Finance Officer.
She argues, in the letter, that she was only appointed the acting CO after Malombe sacked her boss Grace Muimi Kavinya over graft sometime in 2015, KituiOnline has established.
But Ngilu is reportedly yet to respond to Munyao’s retention request.
All pioneer Chief Officers in the County Government were on Monday served with letters requiring them to proceed on terminal leave.
The move resulted from advertisement of their jobs at the expiry of their contracts as a prerequisite for Governor Ngilu to appoint their successors.
The 11 Chief Officers were also instructed to vacate their offices with immediate effect understandably to allow Ngilu’s ministers room to settle without unnecessary interference.
