USAID Donates Ksh. 99M Hospital Equipment to Kitui County

The County Government of Kitui has received Ksh. 99 million worth equipment and furniture from APHIA PLUS today evening.

The equipment include metabolic cabinets, theatre rotating stools, digital thermometer guns, gynecological head lumps among others.

Addressing health stakeholders and wananchi at the Ministry of Health headquarters, Governor Ngilu applauded partners who have aided heavily in different sectors of development in the county.

“Healthcare services in Kitui will be one of the best in the country, we appreciate the support from our partners, this is the county on the move” she paused.

Ngilu said that all the pillars of her development agenda are interrelated and that health is the epicenter of all.

She reiterated that Kitui will be one of the best counties in quality healthcare services nationwide considering the milestones she has accomplished in the sector within a period of less than 100 days.

She said that the County government will implement the Universal Healthcare policy to all households in the county in the approaching year.

The Governor expressed confidence that all county residents will access healthcare at their nearby facilities.

“I want to assure Kitui people that time has come to access healthcare at your facilities” she said.

Ngilu expressed displeasure in the rising number of women who lose life during giving birth.

“I do not want to hear that we’ve lost a woman due to pregnancy complications” she advised.

She applauded USAID group that has supported APHIA KAMILI endeavors for the past 7 years in Kitui.

The governor said that health is a priority agenda of her government and that a lot will be accomplished in the next 6 months.

Present in the event, County CEC for health Mrs. Rosaita Ngina applauded APHIA PLUS for the continued support and noted that such aid was a great boost to the county.

“These are valued partners who have made a change in this vast populous county, we’re gathered here to celebrate the climax of the support that will see 70 facilities benefit” She said.

The CEC noted that the Programme is benefiting different groups in the society unlike others that benefit public organizations only.

“I appreciate this Programme because it supports public, private and faith based organizations”. She added.

The equipment launch is a major boost in the health sector after at least 95 medical personnel were engaged recently.
