Wiper leadership in the Kitui County Assembly has threatened to reject in toto the list of eleven county chief officer nominees which Governor Charity Ngilu yesterday presented to the house for vetting and approval.
Led by majority leader Peter Kilonzo, the MCAs lamented that the process flouted the Constitution as no interviews were conducted and that the list did not consider regional balance.
Mr kilonzo also faulted the governor for not considering the youth, Women and people living with disabilities in her appointments.
He further said some of the nominees had qualifications and experiences in other areas other than that which the portfolios to which they had been nominated required.
“Some of these officers were appointed to positions they had not applied for,” argued the Athi member of the County Assembly.
The governor was also accused of fraudulently appointing some top officers in the county government.
The house is aware that some officers like the chief of staff, director of communication, administration and coordination of county affairs jobs were never advertised in the local as it’s required by the law.
“We want to let the governor know that we are not going to approve the list as it is, she has to change it before it gets too late,” warned Kilonzo.
