Kitui Governor Charity Ngilu has promised to transform the county in a move aimed at realizing the development agenda the late Mayor Martha Mwangangi had before violently losing her life.

Addressing grievers outside Kitui Police station where the fallen mayor lost her life, the Governor pledged to transform the county and fight injustice to achieve fairness for all in the society.

Ngilu mourned the Late Mayor as a dedicated, hardworking and true leader who stood for justice and died fighting for the welfare of Kitui people. She praised her for utmost dedication and commitment in positive activism towards attaining a justified society.

“The late died fighting for the rights of all people. No dedication surpasses that”. She said.

She later joined the family and friends of the late at their rural Kyanika home for the laying of wreath and close of the event. Martha was hit by a County Government fire engine in 2016 during a demonstration by small scale traders outside Kitui police station.
