Former Kitui East parliamentary hopeful Hon. Milton Mwendwa Kitute has sharply differed with Wiper party leader Kalonzo Musyoka over the nomination and support of Edith Nyenze for the Kitui West parliamentary seat.
The seat for Kitui West was left a throne for contest by the late Francis Nyenze’s sudden demise thus prompting a number of leaders from the region drumming support for the late’s wife as a replacement.
This, however, has not sat well with other leaders, among them Kitute, who have termed it an act of imposing Ms. Nyenze on the people of Kitui West.
Speaking on a phone interview with Kituionline, the former parliamentary aspirant categorically stated that leadership is not a family affair that could be conceived the same way as children are.
“This is about the Ukambani unity…It is not about other leaders like the governor whom I respect so much as my party leader and Hon. Kalonzo Musyoka who feel they have an obligation to choose a candidate for the people. It is not about one famliy…”Kitute lamented.
He further insisted that it was the sovereign responsibility of the people of Kitui West to elect a leader of their choice and added that imposing a leader on them was totally unacceptable.
“Kitui West has a variety of professionals and leaders, including Mrs Nyenze. They should do their campaigns and let the electorate choose….Leadership is not ‘sexually transmitted‘.” Said Kitute.
Kitute however asked all the Ukambani leaders to unite against the ruling party Jubilee’s candidate and ensure the Kitui West does not land at Jubilee.
