Muthama among NASA leaders whose passports have been revoked

As the crackdown on the oppossition’s leaders by the government takes root, former Machakos County senator Johnson Muthama, has fallen victim as the Department of Immigration Services suspended passports of a section of the National Super Alliance (NASA) leaders.

Speaking in a letter, signed by Maj. Gen (Rtd) Dr. Gordon Odemo Kihalangwa , Director, Department of Immigration Services, to the controversial  former Senator who also is one of NASA’s point men,  the department asked Muthama to surrender his passport within twenty one days following the notice dated February 5.

Pursuant to Section 31 (1) (2) of the Kenyan Citizenship and Immigration Act 2011, you are hereby notified that passport number C039395 which is in your possession remains suspended forthwith” read the letter in part

The letter however did not offer any explanations catalysing such a move but further insisted that failure to oblige and  surrender the passport would declare the very passport null and void.

Muthama has been missing from the public in matters related to NASA and was not present during the “swearing in” ceremony of Raila Odinga.

The leaders facing the same axe include NASA strategist  David Ndii,  Siaya county Senator James Orengo and Mombasa county boss Ali Hassan Joho. Business man Jimmy Wanjigi was not spared as he sinks in the same boat.
