Court: Friday is a big day for Wavinya vs Mutua

Ruling on petition challenging governor Mutua’s Machakos victory to be made on Friday, Wavinya urges supporters to remain calm.


Former Kathiani MP Wavinya Ndeti has urged her supporters to remain calm ahead of Friday ruling on a petition she filed challenging Governor Alfred Mutua’s re-election in last year’s polls.


Addressing supporters at Kathiani Town on Thursday, the Wiper Party politician exuded confidence that the court will rule in her favor.


Ndeti claimed that she was robbed of her victory in last year’s election, adding that Friday’s ruling will vindicate her.


“I won the Machakos governor seat will massive votes but my victory was robbed and handed to someone else, and I am confident that the court will tomorrow (Friday) prove that I indeed won,” she said on Thursday.


The former MP asked supporters to pray for a favorable outcome, adding that hope and prayer are for fresh gubernatorial election.She alleged that Mutua’s re-election was marred by illegalities and irregularities.


Ndeti said that she will is ready to accept the outcome of the court.

“We will accept what the court rules, but I am 100 percent sure that we are going back to the ballot as Machakos people basing on the injustice that happened on August 8, 2017, she said.


Ndeti challenged Mutua’s re-election in court, claiming that the Maendeleo chap leader’s re-election did not reflect the will of the Machakos people.

The former MP accused Mutua of allegedly using county resources to stage his campaigns contrary to the election laws.
